Part 1 –Conviction leads to Seeking and Believing
By His Hand - Interwoven through this story of my life, are lessons learned from the way God's hand places each piece of the puzzle in place to create a beautiful masterpiece.
"At age thirty-two, I was playing in a popular country band every weekend; I had a decent year with my home building business; I was living in a very nice house filled with new furniture, two decent vehicles, but what I didn’t know was that the bottom was about to fall out! Interest rates on home mortgages were rising and would hit an all time high of twenty percent which sent the economy and my home build-ing business into a tailspin. At the same time, I was growing very uneasy about my life and lifestyle. In fact, I was begin-ing to dislike playing in the band which was a hobby I had loved for years. What was happening? Why was I hearing voices in my head? Why did I suddenly begin to feel guilty about my life and lifestyle? The answer of course was that the Holy Spirit was convicting me. “When He comes, He will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteous-ness and judgment.” (John 16:8)
At age twelve I had an experience with God in a local church at which time I accepted Jesus Christ into my life. Realizing the truth of the Bible, and the Gospel, I wept and wept before God, emptying myself of sin, and opening my life to God, telling Him that I would live for Him. How-ever, that promise was short lived on my part. But I do believe that God wrote down my name in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and from that time on He began to determine my steps. This of course was without my knowledge or understanding at the time. In the years that followed the normal flow of what we call “life,” consisting of school; jobs; marriage; and children took place, and I found myself far from God –or so I thought, but now I realize that God was never far from me."
