"As I put together my thoughts, ideas, and references for this book, I was focused on the two things that were to become the title; show and tell. I have come to believe that God’s Word tells us over and over that the Christian life and lifestyle is not only different from the world, but that those differences ought to show in our thinking, our feelings, and our actions. If the changes God desires and expects in us are not happening, maybe we ought to “test ourselves to see if we are in the faith”. (2nd. Corinthians 13:5) This scripture goes on to say “Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?”
As you will see, Jesus called his disciples to be different, and it’s that difference that makes the difference! For example, He said to them “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another”. In other words, because you have a love for one another and for others that is totally different from the normal way of thinking and doing, those of the world around you will know or realize that you are my disciples! If we are followers or disciples of Jesus it ought to show!
The second thing that ought to always be a part of the Christian life and lifestyle is a constant desire to tell of your experience with God. You may call it witness-ing, testimony, or evangelism, but it involves telling others about the salvation found in Christ alone, and also what God has done (past) - and is doing (present) - in your life. “Jesus said to them, "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working.” (John 5:17) If this is true, it ought to show and we ought to tell!
God’s Word is not merely for our information, it is for our transformation! It brings about a trans-formation that is not about trying to improve the old self; it is not about “cleaning up our act” so to speak; it is about a relationship that brings a change of direction, a change of attitude, a change of behavior, a whole new life and lifestyle. Knowledge that does not change a person’s life serves little purpose.
Our knowledge of God and His Word will bring a noticeable change into our lives. It will change our faith, it will change our hope, and especially our love for God and toward one another. The key word here is “noticeable”. There will be noticeable change in our lives, in our thinking, in our actions, and our attitudes. Our friends will take notice; our families will take notice; and the world will take notice as well. This “noticeable” change is really the “fruit” of or the “manifestation” of our knowledge of God and our experience with God. Order today. www.amazon.com/-/e/B007OXIP62
